desiderata
make something rich and sparkeling in 3 circles
With the given desiderata I thought of a contemporary chandelier with a crystal effect. Real crystal was no option and glass gets a green hue the thicker it becomes. But acrylic even when thick remains clear. Each piece of acrylic is handhewn and unique. The irregular ridges pass the light in a beautiful manner and the flat surfaces enhance this character mirroring the light. The pieces are arranged in such a way that none can be missed or exchanged.
In combination with the big gold circles the assignment is royaly met. The space is reduced in a pleasant way by a kind of ceiling. I was aware of the shifting of air in the room, this keeps the pieces of acrylic in constant if only slight movement. By placing the armatures in the circles they have become part of the shape [instead of the usual bulbs among the crystal]. They give their light to the acrylic from a few meters’ distance and still create the impression of enormous lamps.
