make a temporary work of art, inside or out as a kind of reminder that the international Women's Day is coming
Portraits of women who are unknown or well-known in the fields of power, resistance, science, art, sport and a-typical behaviour of women in their own time of life. The very selection creates some tension between the everyday aspect of a woman’s existence and its average heroism. The towels enhance that element.
The study of the history of women has brought me many nice, but also terrible surprises. Many women have dedicated themselves, often against all odds, to protecting or improving people’s lives. Because the portraits were cheerfully flying in the wind on a kind of clothes-line, they drew the attention of many people and caused them to comment on what they saw. The reception was generally positive, dispite the fact that this topic can still cause a lot of agression.
