A new building with elderly inhabitants. Make something new that feels old and familiar and yet belongs to our own time. Something that does justice to the architecture as well. The forecourt is part of the central space with open galleries on three floors. The billiard and the habitués’ table are in the middle in a circular 15 meter high space.

To fill this space I wanted to fashion homeliness in a monumental way. I thought of the skirted lamp that used to hang over the dutch family tables and started looking for a shape.
The circle filling the space, and the choice for traditional flowery cloth are intended to evoke a friendly and cheerful picture. The simplicity, size and repetition aim at a contemporary character. The following generations after all want to sit here as cosy and comfortable.
