As a farewell present to one of the managers of Landstede the obligatory education conference was organized. He wanted to convey his enthusiasm for POE. In order to get acqainted with the material I spoke to representatives of six teaching disciplines. Students were to act as tutors and take over the teachers' tasks. The intention was to make people do things uncommon to their normal disciplines and capacities. The usual protocol during this kind of seminar was completely overthrown.
After listing all activities possible within the professional sections I made a design in which work would be generated for all 120 participants. At the same time everyone was to join hands in the production of a permanent moving object. When somebody walks past this tree, movement detectors set eight butterflies into motion. The sun and the cloud are full of computer-controlled LEDs in series connection. The sun shines and the cloud rains. This ended up as a tangible present to the manager. It was a great goodbye party.
